Jaw crusher selection involves more than comparing feed opening dimensions. The machine must suit the material and work with the equipment before and after it. Preparing a clear set of operating requirements supports a more useful technical review.
1. Rock type and feed characteristics
Identify the mineral or rock, its hardness and abrasiveness, and whether moisture, clay or sticky material is present. Prepare a representative sample or available test report for technical review. Different materials do not behave identically in the same machine.
2. Feed size and required product
Provide the largest feed lump and the overall feed size distribution. A maximum size alone does not describe the complete feed. Define the target product size and explain whether the crusher will serve as a primary stage or form part of an existing circuit.
3. Capacity and line coordination
State the required throughput in tonnes per hour and the intended daily operating hours. Feeders, conveyors, screens and subsequent crushing stages need to match the duty. Final capacity depends on actual feed conditions and machine settings and is established through technical review.
4. Installation and maintenance access
Describe the available space, transport and service access, electrical supply, supporting structure and foundation conditions. For an existing plant, a layout drawing and the specifications of the current equipment are also useful.
Enquiry checklist
- Material type, moisture and available hardness or wear data
- Maximum feed size and feed size distribution
- Target throughput and required product size
- Line drawing or a description of existing equipment
- Installation location, space constraints and available power
